Capital Campaign

Phase 1

Safety

Install smoke/CO detectors: Estimate cost from Northland Fire and Safety is to install this system.

Electrical upgrades: A local electrician has evaluated what needs to be done and will need to coordinate with Northland. He charges by time and materials so we do not have a specific dollar amount.

Carpentry: After the fire detectors are installed and electrical work is done there will need to be ceiling repair.

We estimate that this phase will cost approximately $70,000 total.

These repairs need to be completed before we can potentially qualify for grant funding.

Our Ask:

Phase 2

Accessibility

This is about accessibility and includes power operated doors, accessible restrooms, an improved ramp from the parking lot to the entry sidewalk.

We are working on a grant that could possibly pay 50% match of our costs. If we are awarded this grant, we would only get matching funds of money received after being approved. So we are only asking for pledges for Phase Two. Estimated total cost is $200,000.

Future Phases

But wait… there’s more….

Greetings friends,

Here is a recap of information regarding the needs of our church building and proposal to begin addressing those needs:

The building is over 50 years old. It has served many functions incredibly well, and at the same time it needs work to continue functioning effectively. We contracted ATS&R to do a comprehensive evaluation and then the Buildings & Grounds Committee developed a multiphase plan to address the needs. The Capital Campaign Exploratory Committee has been working on how to fund these projects. Our recommendation is that we should raise money for one project at a time so that work can start when the funds are available for that phase. In addition to contributions from the congregation we are investigating grants.

Below is a brief summary of the different phases of work. We have been calling these Enter, energize, & elevate.

Phase One: This is the highest priority as it addresses urgent safety issues including smoke detectors, emergency lighting, electrical upgrades and associated ceiling repair.

Phase Two: This is about accessibility and includes power operated doors, accessible restrooms, an improved ramp from the parking lot to the entry sidewalk.

Phase Three: this is also about accessibility between the main floor and lower level. We understand there are multiple and varying opinions about this and do not currently offer a recommendation on the best solution.

Phase Four: Replace windows and exterior siding.

Phase Five: Remodel moveable Fireside Room wall for improved privacy.

Phase Six: Build an exterior vestibule for the main doors for improved energy efficiency and draft control.

Phase Seven: Upgrade and replace the heating plant.
