The common denominator is not the worst we can believe about them. That is true for Republicans, Democrats, Independents, Catholics, Evangelicals, Buddhists, blacks, whites, Natives, Muslims, Mexicans, men, women, transgender, city folk, country folk, red necks, Yankees, capitalists, socialists, atheists, gun owners, and I guess I mean everyone. Instead of hating or fearing or not trusting a whole group of people we believe are different, maybe giving the group the benefit of the doubt may just make our hearts a little less heavy and our world a little better.
